Matt Katherman is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and audio engineer from Virginia. After taking drum lessons from the age of 11 he eventually started playing and writing songs on the guitar and piano (âits hard to write songs on the drums and even harder to expect bandmates to write songs for you to playâ). Graduating from Full Sail University with a degree in Recording Arts in 2005 he began concentrating on writing songs and engineering at Redwall Studios (which was built and designed by Jeff Davis and Matt upon graduating). Pros and Cons is a debut EP written in 2007-2008 after a very turbulant year dealing with job changes,legal troubles, and an unfortunate lack of time to write and play with Reads and Writes band mates Jeff Davis and Rich Goenner. Naturally these songs ended up more acoustically driven as they were written at home by Matt rather than at Redwall with other musicians/bandmates. Two songs off the EP were featured in the indie film In The Pines directed by Chip Johnson (Pros and Cons, Behind The Sun). The film was also scored by Matt and Anthony Torres of The Action Habit (also from Norfolk, VA). Pros and Cons features Matt Katherman - Vocals, Guitars, Drums, Bass, Keys. Rich Goenner - Piano on Winter Sky and Rhythm guitar/keys on 12 Steps, and lead guitar on Behind the Sun. Jeff Davis - Bass on Pros And Cons, Lead Guitar on Behind The Sun. Scott Wilkins-Bass/Guitars on Behind the sun. Matt is currently writting and recording new songs for a full length LP.
