Details:
If the 1960's had any effect on anyone who grew up during it, the Beatles were probably the foreunners in a wide range of influence from thoughts, ideas, dress, hair and style.
Bobby Cole is no exception but was a bit young to really appreciate the Beatles while they were changing the world around him.
Never really having a desire to write a song about the Beatles and or John Lennon, it was an old VHS tape taken by a friend live outside the Dakota and in Central Park during the Lennon memorial that got him thinking about John and how much he is missed. "Dear John" is the result of just what Bobby was feeling while watching this video.
Although Bobby didn't necessarily agree with everything John may have stated in his short life, he nonetheless was a voice that millions 60's children looked up to and were guided by.
Regardless of whether anyone agrees or disagrees, the Beatles "were" more popular than any one person who ever lived.
