Details:
If you live in the Northwestern part of the Untied States, Seattle to be exact, then you are one of the lucky ones. On a regular basis youâre able to experience singer, songwriter, keyboard player, humorist, Eric âTwo Scoopsâ Moore, live and in person. I fist met Scoops back in the 70âs in Boston. I remember seeing him playing piano in such clubs as the House of Blues, 1369 Jazz Club and other noted venues, as well as often seeing him perform at local festivals. There is one event, however, that stands out in my mind. It was at the Cambridge River Festival. I was standing on the banks of the Charles where they had closed off the street for the festival. I was facing the river when all of a sudden I heard some Blues literally coming down the street. I turned around and saw this little band of Bluesmen on the back of a truck. I only remember Scoops with his commanding presence, barrelhouse sound and then I saw his big smile. That vision has stayed with me. We ran into each other often over the next decade or so traveling in the same Blues world. Years later we even found out we shared the same dentist, which was an unlikely probability!

BIG BUFFET, Ericâs debut release, has been an international hit with the self-titled tune requested over and over again. His food-theme continued into the next couple of albums. On this latest scrumptious release, FAT DADDY, in true Two Scoops style there are more references to the edibles. Ericâs tunes are also about life and love as he sees it, all the while championing the working man and woman.

The CD kicks off with the title track, FAT DADDY, with a smokinâ horn solo by the amazing, âSaxâ Gordon Beadle. The rest of the âFatâ Cats really dish it up, as well. Theyâre primarily New England based, but these pros are internationally known. Our mouths start watering early on with the mention of beer, chicken, cake, and a table of treats. Next comes IT HURTS TO BE IN LOVE, which happily showcases Scoopsâ magical keyboards in swinging form. In MENTAL HOSPITAL, weâre able to hear Ericâs musical comment on the realities of our work-a-day world while infusing some humor into this stressful job. SIAMESE TWIN comes next. This clever piece can also reflect the hidden meaning of having others real or perceived too involved in oneâs relationship. The cha cha rhythm of the CD is MY GIRLâS SWEET (Your Girl is Something Else!). Itâs got some good olâ boy banter going on with the feel of âMinnie the Moocher".

We all have a place we come from. HOMETOWN is a very relatable, sweetly sung piece with a great sax solo to help lament the changes of the place over time. Weâve all been there. Next comes BIG SHOT WOMAN. This one is from a male perspective, but itâs easy to switch it around. Ericâs tunes seem to capture the visual as well as the auditory. We feel his passion for life all around. IâM A DUMMY doesnât say much for the ego, but Iâm guessing thereâve been times weâve all wished that weâd felt a bit wiser. All school kids and the discouraged should take heed with DONâT DROP OUT.

Is your mouth watering yet? Itâs about time in the CD for another meal. EARLY BIRD SPECIAL fits the bill. Whether young or old, Sunday dinner with the promise of soup, salad, butter, bread, good company and more whets the appetite. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LADY? is an interesting commentary and reflection on the daily routine and our observations of others in our lives. See, we do notice. I love the tune TIP WELL. Eric just gets right to the point here. He puts to music what we want to tell the folks who just need that extra bonk on the head. And now itâs holiday time - CRYING ON CHRISTMAS. This tune will be played every year. The CD ends with a fitting and hopefully prophetic piece, MY WIFE WON THE LOTTERY. I think this CD is a sure winner for Eric âTwo Scoopsâ Moore, regardless. Take your scoop and dig in because there are 14 delicious tunes on this CD. So fill up - Letâs Eat!
