Description:
For INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE players. A video tutorial focused on "Got My Mojo Working," a Muddy Waters tune from 1956 that has become a worldwide blues classic. Transcribed/adapted by Adam Gussow of Satan and Adam.
This lesson focuses on two key areas of the song: the "head" or introduction, in which the harp player kicks off the song, and the first twelve bars of the solo by Kim Wilson from the LUDELLA album by Jimmy Rodgers. Because of the fast tempo of KW's solo and the extended sixteenth-note passages it includes, that half of this lesson clearly falls into the ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE category.
Technical challenges include everything but overblows! You'll need to have your 2, 3, and 4 draw bends in great shape (the song requires two distinct bends on each of the lower two holes). Some of the faster passages require double-tonguing, and Gussow shows you how this is done. Tongue-blocked octaves are required at various points. This lesson is a master class in serious blues harmonica. IF YOU'RE IN ANY DOUBT ABOUT WHETHER YOU CAN HANDLE THIS LESSON, PLEASE CHECK OUT THE PREVIEW. In the lesson itself, I take you through both tab sheets in slow-motion as well as more quickly. (I also offer a somewhat easier version of the song, "Mojo 1.0"; you can find it easily by googling gussow tradebit mojo 1.0.)
Harp key: A
Note: a two-page PDF tab for this lesson is also available.
Running time: 49:28 (long!)

OUTSTANDING!
I HAVE ONLY BEEN PLAYING FOR A SHORT TIME, I chose to learn this version instead of the easier version. You better make sure you have studied the earlier lessons on the 2, 3, and four bends. there is a lot to learn here. It is within reach if you are an advanced beginner or above. some of the bars are great practice for your bends. take your time and this is a great piece. Thanks Adam
