Somewhere an old punk whose had a sense of humor bypass will be screaming sacrilege, and in an apoplectic rage might even put his foot through his television set.
âHow dare theyâ he will say. âThe youth of this nation need protected from this filth.â
The sacrilegious filth in question will be San Franciscoâs The Sex Presleys who have released a six track work of genius in my opinion.
By melding the songs of Elvis Presley and the Sex Pistols together theyâve managed to wobble a thin line between taking the piss and actually paying homage to the two legends.
On first listen it comes across like a tongue in cheek slap down, but give it a few spins and the fun aspect is infectious. In fact thereâs a good chance that I would reach for this before âNever mind the Bollocksâ as over the last thirty odd years Iâve done that album to death and a fresh take is always welcome.
When youâve stopped laughing and have a second and third run at it then it will all start to make sense.
Go on. You know you wanna. Fuck the po-faced punks and give in to some SEX PRESLEYS.

This is fucking awesome. Sex Presleys said âfuck youâ to mashups and decided to take Elvis Presley lyrics and sing them as parodies of Sex Pistols songs. âTeddy Bearâ uses âAnarchy in the U.K.â for example.

This is a six-track EP, and Iâd list the Sex Pistols song that goes with each song, but I am a poseur fan and can only sing âAnarchy in the U.K.â and âFrigginâ in the Rigginâ.â The other Elvis songs are âCanât Help Falling in Love,â âBurninâ Love,â âHeartbreak Hotel,â âHound Dogâ and âAlways on My Mind,â which was covered by Elvis anyway. (It is a Brenda Lee song.)

Oh, âHeartbreak Hotelâ is âGod Save the Queen.â Thatâs entertaining, but âTeddy Bearâ is the best. Itâs really too bad that âFrigginâ in the Rigginââ was not used. Maybe that will happen on their next album.
