Ethan Collister is a passionate musician and an avid traveler dedicated to his calling as a songwriter. He spends his winters travelling and performing, making his way to places as diverse as Montreal (Canada), New York City (U.S.A), Barcelona (Spain), and Varanasi (India). In the summer months he works at a forest fire lookout tower in his native Alberta, Canada, where he watches over the trees and writes songs, cultivating a unique perspective on a world that he is both within and without.

Much of Collisterâs debut album âPainting Picturesâ was recorded on 4 track tape at his lookout tower. The initial recordings featured worldly percussionist Dieter Feist, a fellow tower worker at a neighboring lookout 60km from Ethanâs post. After beginning the recording process with Feist, Collister took his tapes to Vancouver where he drew upon the skills of several other musicians to build a fuller sound. The resulting album, which was self-released in the spring of 2006, is a unique, eclectic, and inspired collection of songs illustrating Collisterâs emerging talent as a writer and musician.
