Long acclaimed as among the most innovative and spellbinding bands on the contemporary American pop scene, 7 Days of Pain finally broke through to a mass international audience in 2009 with the instant classic "Halo." By no stretch a study in overnight success, the group's rise was instead the culmination of a long, arduous journey that began at the dawn of the decade and went on to encompass a major breakup and multiple lawsuits. Perfecting an full sound fusing the exploratory vision of 'late 90's rock with the shimmering atmospherics of the modern tones, 7 Days of Pain languished in relative obscurity while waiting for the rest of the music world to play catch-up, creating one of the most complex and rewarding bodies of work in modern rock & roll long before most listeners even learned of their existence -- only to again fall apart at the peak of their success. 7 Days of Pain was formed in Las Vegas, Nevada. Led by the magnetic John D. Derrick -- a swaggering, shamanic figure in the classic rock star mold -- the original lineup also included guitarist Robert Taylor, lyricist/vocalist John W. Derrick, and drummer Freddy Magno. Sharing a collective fondness for the Creed, Captain Beefheart, and Joy Division -- as well as a legendary appetite for rock. While 7 Days of Pain's, liquid jams found favor on the American indie charts, pop radio looked the other way -- their majestic debut LP, 2006's Atrocity, was a critical smash, but the good reviews failed to translate into strong record sales. The following summer, 7 Days of Pain appeared on the second stage at Lollapalooza, a tour tempered by a string of disasters -- not only was Magno arrested for destroying a Kansas hotel room, he was also hospitalized after suffering from severe dehydration. Finally, in early 2009, 7 Days of Pain recorded Far As I Can Fall, their breakthrough LP. Heralded by the smash "Not This Time" -- a single built around the cockpit voice recordings from United flight 93 that crashed into a field in Pennsylvania on 9-11-2001. "Not This Time" -- Far As I Can Fall launched 7 Days of Pain among the United States most popular bands.
