Christopher Leroy Rudderâs emcee name âAlleyneâ (pronounced ahhh-lean) is his motherâs maiden name. The first of three children, Christopher called himself Alleyne because of the unconditional love and emotional support his mother gave him that helped bolster his career in music in Toronto, Canada. Christopher (Alleyne) spent his early childhood growing up in a crime stricken neighborhood known as the jungle (Keele and Lawrence), where he grew up in a culturally diverse neighborhood, comprised of many people from Caribbean and African descent, which exposed him to an eclectic selection of genres of music. Alleyneâs parents eventually left the jungle to the suburbs of Thornhill, where he met fellow microphone fiend Ashley âSherrkaanâ Manoharan (Steel Halo), and eventually Kev-Large and Temus. Alleyneâs emerging relationship with these talented, entrepreneurial-minded artists contributed to his metamorphosis from a rapper to a master of ceremonies/producer/engineer, which culminated in Alleyne forming Limestone Studios; a studio that fostered an environment for the completion of independent musiciansâ albums and the development of Alleyneâs artistic and intellectual inventiveness, lyrical writing and vocal delivery skills as a hip hop artist, as well as mixing and producing skills as a producer/engineer. Together with Temus, Alleyne would later go on to record two albums âDying To Surviveâ (1998) and âOff The Recordâ (1999), as well 8 other singles. Alleyne would than begin working on his first official solo album called âNothing Else Mattersâ (2000). Alleyne & Temus recorded more singles including two hits âIf You Wanna...â and âWhatâcha Wanna Do?â, which exclusively appeared on the critically acclaimed Artefis - Alive Compilation Volume One (2001 - 2002). In 2003 Alleyneâs career came to a sudden halt due to the untimely death of his beloved step daughter who passed away from brain cancer in 2005. After being inspired by his step daughterâs ceaseless display of uncompromising courage and conviction in the face of death and despair, Alleyne returned to the Hip Hop game in 2005 with a reignited fire in his belly and began to play with a new paradigm, new values, new objectives & convictions, new lyrics and new head knocker beats.
