Details:
Jason Silvera aka Akapello was born in Kingston, Jamaica
August 29th 1985. As a youth, he sang in church with his cousins, which contributed to the talents that he has developed today.
During his youth in Jamaica, he wasnât aware of his many talents. Abruptly, he was sent to live in the U.S. at the tender age of 8. His first experiences in the U.S. were not picture perfect as he had envisioned. His living conditions were not consistent nor were the faces of his caregivers. At the age of 13, he found himself homeless living in vacant apartments with roaches and rats.
Through those challenging times he managed to stay in school where he discovered and experienced the talent of Raven Simone. She performed at his school along with All for One, Yolanda Adams and Immature. From that moment on he was inspired.
His newly found motivation led him to join other talented youngsters to collaborate with, while improving his singing, songwriting and dancing skills. His efforts paid off when he asked to join a tour, Jammin for Kids Sake, with Raven Simone, Hercules and Big Time years later.
Soon after, he had the opportunity of working with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. He became a songwriter for an up and coming music group that they had signed. Although short lived, he moved on to sing back up at the NAACP awards for Mya. He aggressively continued his career, creating the opportunity to work with Jackson Brown. Also, he extended his wide range of diverse talents from music scores (writing and singing) to jingles for radio and television.
Now, at the ripe age of 24, Akapello, a reggae cross-over artist, possesses the desire to enhance the music industry with this diversity of a new sound (an electric mix of reggae, pop, R&B, Latin, African) that has not yet been experienced. Through his music he send a heartfelt message of world peace and harmony.
He is excited to introduce AkapelloMusic to the world for all to enjoy. One nation we stand united, excluding color lines.
