Traditionally producing a record has five steps, writing, recording, mixing, mastering and manufacturing. An expert in that particular field would perform each of these stages. With the advent of computer based studios an artist can do all five steps on their own pc, to end up with a finished product that is ready to go off for mass production. The overlap between some of these processes have become so vague that it's difficult to know where one ends and the other starts.

This series of video tutorials has been designed on FL Studio 6 but the theories will work just as well using any plugins, any host and and musical style. Learn how to apply effects correctly to produce better quality products that are as loud as commercial cd's.
