Details:
Well folks, weâre the New North Carolina Ramblers and weâre going to play you some old timey dance music, the kind of thing that sets peopleâs feet to dancing up on Shooting Creek. Weâre going to do Posey Rorrerâs RAGTIME ANNIEâ¦let her go boys.â Thus might start a typical concert of the Ramblers: Kinney Rorrer, Kirk Sutphin, Jeremy Stephens and Darren Moore. And that is what youâll hear on this, their second CD.
âThese talented and dedicated musicians do more than preserve the great Charlie Poole legacyâ¯they extend and expand it, and in the process reassure us that ¬old-time music can be renewed and revitalized in our day without â¦departing from the richness of the old repertoire.â Art Rosenbaum THE OLD-TIME HERALD.
The above quote was about their first CD; their second CD shows how spot-on those comments were!
"The North Carolina old-time band follows up its excellent first album with another generous helping of 25 tracks featuring Kinney Rorrer, Kirk Sutphin, Jeremy Stephens and Darren Moore. The group plays a variety of old-time music, but they specialize both in the Charlie Poole sound and the Carter Family style. Instrumentally they have captured those sounds to an uncanny degree; their two-guitar rendition of the Roy Harvery & Leonard Copeland classic BACK TO THE BLUE RIDGE is a neat example of this."
