âHorny Catâ by Bob Fantone

Hi! Let me introduce myself. My name is Bob Fantone. I am the composer / musician (accordion) of âHorny Cat.â I started my musical adventure when I was twelve years old. While shopping in downtown Long Beach, California, my mother and I stopped in front of a music store. There, in the window, was a 12 bass accordion. Seeing this instrument instantly brought me back to memories of my grandparentsâ living room, where I first heard an accordion on their old upright radio-phonograph player. We proceeded to walk into the music store where my mother signed me up for accordion lessons.
From my first lesson in 1948, I was totally committed to my musical studies and enjoyed every aspect of my music education. My joy for music saw me through seven years of formal lessons. Some of my musical and lifetime accomplishments are:
1955 â The accordion band I was in, âThe Mello Accordions,â participated in a national competition in Chicago. We tied for first place with our rendition of âA Night on Bald Mountainâ by Modest Mussorgsky (1839 â 1881).
1956 â I won 3rd Place in the senior division at the âWestern Accordion Festival.â I played âFantasy Impromptuâ by Frederic Chopin (1810 â 1849).
1957 â I joined the Long Beach City College Jazz Band and took harmony courses.
1959 â I married my wonderful wife, Virginia. (I met her at the Music Center Accordion School where I was studying.)
1961 â Present â Along with my wife, I raised two great sons and two beautiful daughters.
My unique and original song, âHorny Catâ, has been a family effort. I composed the music and played the accordion on the recording. My daughter, Marisa Neppl, and her son, Ben Neppl, did the vocals. And Finally, the lyrics to âHorny Catâ were written by Marisa, Sarah, and Ben Neppl.
In closing, Iâd like to say, âDonât ever give up on your dreams.â I hope you enjoy my song âHorny Cat.â It brings me great happiness to share it with you.
