Originally titled "Lovers" These are the original demo sessions .

This Demo CD are the original Masters from which we worked from to complete the "Lovers" CD. Bobby played the drums on it of which he was very proud . We are grateful to have been able to go into the studio and finish this project with some fine players including Eric Johnson , David Grissom and our fine friend Stephen Bruton . Not to mention the Extraordinary Willie Nelson , who came along first and played on these very first raw tracks .
The journey of this Cd has been a long one . It began in a converted machine shop . And went through some amazing transitions along the way . One of the most difficult tasks was recording on machinery that was constantly breaking down . CoCo finally taped up the meter board so as not to be distracted by its erractic behavior . It worked , and on the last day of our recording CoCo flew Layla by one last time in an effort to mix ...and it finally shut down .
When we were to appear on "The Road to Austin" it was suggested that we have a CD to go along ...we printed up quite a few of these first Lovers cds much to our apprehension. It lead to the final CD Lovers ( in blue ) with Willie Nelson, Stephen Bruton ,Eric Johnson, David Grissom ,Brannen Temple (Drums ) and James Fenner (percussion) . Our dream had come true .
All these events took place that we could not have organized . So we look back on this little cd and laugh a bit but it was the skeleton of what was to become a great record . We are very proud to say that we kept half of the recordings ...the lead vocals ,backround vocals , bass , sax and strings .
Interesting to look at both Lovers cd's and hear the transformation . From a sketch to an oil masterpiece .
