This is Jesse Lenat's first self released album. He wanted his first compilation of songs to be as simple and homegrown as possible. He took his minidisc digital recorder everywhere with him and made recordings on top of mountains...next to streams and rivers...in fields...on the side of highways... in coffee shops and apartments mostly in NYC, Texas, and California. Then he edited it all and gave it a little sweetening in pro-tools to make it a bit more listener friendly! What was created is a group of recordings with top notch songwriting in a homespun intimate format that breathes with the artist and the listener...sometimes you don't know if the birds are outside your window or in the recording...if you listen while your driving sometimes you mistake the sound of distant traffic as your own car wheels...But what your always sure of Jesse's soulful singing and masterful accoustic guitar work...Listen to his melodic description of an eagle floating on the wind in Topanga Canyon in "Like an Eagle" or his quiet fireside recording in the the Mohave desert "glow"(and be sure to listen after the birds on the last track to hear the secret track: a heartfelt 9/11 memorial)...
