âSinginâ & Swinginââ marks 3 For The Showâs CD debut, and is dedicated to all the trioâs fans who lovingly pestered the group with the following question: âDo you have a CD yet?â The CD is comprised of eight well-known standards, but there is nothing âstandardâ about the groupâs treatment of the material. Listen closely and you will hear the influences of arrangers like Juan Garcia Esquivel, Billy May, and Dave Lambert in 3 For The Showâs work, as well as tributes to great musicians like Charlie âBirdâ Parker, Ella Fitzgerald, and The Manhattan Transfer. The trio understands how much they owe those who have gone before, and make a point of acknowledging the fact with every note they sing.
Perhaps the only thing better than hearing their work on a recording is seeing 3 For The Show! live. The group is at heart a song & dance trio in the energetic style of a mid-â50s Vegas lounge act (think Louis Prima, Keely Smith, Sam Butera & the Wildest with choreography and youâve got the right idea). Based out of Los Angeles, the trio travels extensively throughout southern California and the southwestern United States, performing for packed houses of hipsters and hep cats, young and old alike.
In fact, 3 For The Show! has a universal appeal that is uncommon in an age where the cultural divide between young and old is wider than ever before. Raise the roof for 450 octogenarians at a formal affair? âNo sweat,â says the trio. Shake it up with the new jet set of 20-somethings being seen at the trendiest club in town? âPiece of cake,â is the groupâs reply.
Whatâs more, the trioâs membersâTricia, Tracy, and Michaelâare good people, too. They go out of their way to perform for people who might not otherwise receive any entertainment at all. Ask any member of 3 For The Show! about their most memorable and gratifying show, and youâll most likely hear a story about Christmas at a domestic violence shelter, a luau party at a psychiatric lock-down facility, or family night at a center for the severely disabled. Once youâve seen the group in action, youâll realize that good times and laughter are what the trio is all about.
3 For The Show! is a song & dance trio par excellence, but more than that, theyâre an outrageous party on wheelsâand they donât quit until everyone in the joint is jumpinâ. Of course, some folks might not be able to catch the trio live because of geographical constraints, so until you can make it to southern California, buy their CD. When it comes in the mail, put it in your player, sit back, close your eyes, and let 3 For The Show! take you on a musical hip trip like no other.
