Darron âCookieâ Moore always knew music would play an important role in his life. Growing up in the Detroit area, he grew up in a home filled with music, and a city renowned for it. He began playing piano at age seven, and was introduced to the bass when he was 15. Inspired by the music he heard from artists like Reverend Milton Bronson & the Thompson Community Choir and Commissioned, he was writing and creating his own music, even then, encouraged by those around him.
To showcase his musical talents, Darron put together a gospel ensemble, and performed a concert featuring songs he had written. A videotape of that concert was sent to the Grambling State University scholarship program. They were excited about what they saw, and offered Darron a vocal scholarship to attend Grambling in 1992. While at Grambling, Darron took vocal classes and sang in the University choir. He also began developing his skills and the innovative style he utilizes today, accompanying church services.
Following his time at Grambling, Darron enrolled at Wayne State University in 1997 to continue his music education. He took classes in music production, and learned the recording process, which would enable him to record his own music in the future. His desire to pursue his own musical goals led to his leaving Wayne State in 1999. He knew then that his music career would present him with amazing opportunities, and allow him to develop his own unique sound.
Over time, his passion for music continued to grow, and in 2002, Darron released his first CD project titled âNothing Else to Sayâ. This was just the beginning of this gifted artistâs musical journey. He followed that release with âBass-Is Loadedâ in 2003, and with it, expanded his innovative and dynamic style of play. This CD received attention from listeners, who complimented his fierce, creative style of play, and anticipated more⦠In 2005, Darron released âAt Peaceâ, and with it, shared his joy for life and desire to share what he does with people everywhere. âI want to share my music with the world- I feel it is my ministry, my calling, to uplift people with my musicâ.
"NEW LOVE" is Mooreâs upcoming fourth solo release. It stretches his talents to a new level with exciting original compositions blending energetic R&B tempos, funky bass lines and smooth jazz grooves. Darron looks forward to touring the country in support of this project and sharing his musical vision.
