A spoken word artist who blends hip hop flavor with literary poetry, Em Sea Water finds balance between topics ranging from racism to righteousness. His album, Hydrology, received âBest Poetry CD of the Yearâ at the 2007 Peopleâs Poetry Awards. Consistently pushing the margins of spoken word since his debut album, L.I.V.E: The Love Life EP, Em Sea Water has recently completed a music video along with Grasshopper Philms called "The Box Theory." Water is also the founder of "The Eagle's NesT" which is an arts & social organization at his alma mater, Coppin State University. This club meets every Thursday night in the Tawes Center to discus current social issues and host open mic poetry.

Em Sea Water earned the name "Water" from his natural ability to reflect his surroundings much like the ocean naturally reflects the sun. His lyrical flow is relentless and his emotions are transparent; like water. Water recognizes his art as a gift from God, much like the gift of life, compared to water in John 4 "..whoever drinks of this water I give, will never thirst again." Em Sea Water, whose real name is Borndavid McCraw, is both rooted in Christian values and the City of Baltimore; using the streets as his muse for creating poetry. A multifaceted channel that reflects the images of his culture, Em Sea Water remains one of the most versatile writers of his generation. Embarking on a current collaboration with illustrator, Nicolas Stanley, Em Sea Water anticipates the release of his first poetry book in the fall of 2009.
