Consider it a hats off to the two legendary songwriters and performers.

Elton John was born with the name Reginald Kenneth Dwight. He took his first name from Elton Dean and his last name from Long John Baldry.

Interestingly enough, taking a bit of a first name from one spot and a last name from another spot is common both among legendary performers and drag queens.

Elvis Costello was born with the name Declan Patrick McManus. His music is amazing and his talent is grand. I think we can all be pretty sure that his success would have been limited had he stuck with his family name. This is the type of thing that many artists face.

The name Elton Costello marks a rebirth for singer/songwriter Steve Cohen who already has two full length CD's (Silent Too Long & Crazy) under his belt.
The earlier recordings that Steve released in 1997 and 2000 earned him great respect and industry attention from folks from MCA records, ASCAP and Billboard magazine. The funny thing about Steve's birth name is that it is so common that it is creating confusion. There is another blues artist already marketing his music under the name "Steve Cohen Blues Band."

Electronic Phonics is a break from the traditional acoustic fully produced style of Steve's first two releases. It doesn't sound like anything else out there and yet it has a modern sound that many people find appealing with just a few listens.
