Details:
The New Occupants evolved from a studio band known as Danger Roads, which released two 45's on Break'er Records a small independent label based out of Minneapolis. The first 45 by Danger Roads, My Metaphysical Friend backed with Only in L.A. were two pop/novelty songs, recorded in November, 1978. The second 45 by Danger Roads was It's Time To Become Robots which was a one sided 45 recorded in June, 1979. This song was a techno/dance type song (also in the novelty style) that received airplay on WHBI, a radio station in New York City and became one of the stations top 10 most requested songs in August and September of 1980.
Around 1981, Dave Erbele had started his own recording studio, Danger Studios, located in St. Paul. At the new studio, Dave and Tom Campbell, along with various local musicians recorded the first record by The New Occupants, a four song album which included a new recording of It's Time To Become Robots, along with I Want To Function With You, Mechanical Rights, and Interdigitation. This album was released on Danger Records and was played at some of the local dance clubs, including First Avenue, in downtown Minneapolis.
Sometime in 1984, Tom and Dave wrote a song called Blue Light, which envisioned a world of passive people who were addicted to watching television. The recording included sound clips from various tv shows. The song was recorded at Danger Studios and mixed at Greenstreet Recording in New York, NY. Blue Light was a 12 inch record with 3 mixes, released in 1984 and was played in various dance clubs world wide. The record was reviewed in Billboard (February 9, 1985) and was described as "A kiloton of new wave dance beat". Blue Light was featured on a Razormade compilation album, released in 1986.
After the success of Blue Light, Tom and Dave continued to work on new songs, along with Charlie Erickson and Jim Saxon. There are a number of completed songs which had never been released until now. Dark Day, Vertigo, Code Blue, Allergic To The Sun, Walking The Earth Alone and Electric Angel.
Now for the first time ever, all The New Occupant songs have been remastered on one CD simply titled "Remastered".
