12 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Traditional Folk, COUNTRY: Traditional Country

Details:
My name is Christian Sands, and I write, perform, and record all of the Greasehead music. Greasehead started in 2001 with me doing everything (bass, guitar, vocals, drums, etc.), and mixing it together on a Fostex 4-track recorder. There was always the idea of actually forming a band at some point, so I kept the Greasehead name, but the band has never happened.

The music was originally more traditional country with a dark feel to it. All I was listening to at that time was roots, rockabilly, trad, and psychobilly. The first album had the full-band sound on every track, but each album has progressively become more stripped down. I started foregoing the drums and bass, and putting more effort into the lyrics and recording. Unfortunately, the first three albums are not currently available, but I plan on making them so in the near future.

The fourth album, "Scars," was originally titled âIV,â but that didn't make much sense to introduce it as such with the first three albums missing. This album is totally stripped down--no drums or bass in any of the songs. It is all guitar, vocals, harmonica, maracas, shakers, boot stomping, and several miscellaneous pieces of wood I banged together.

All the recording is done at my house. I have two Shure microphones, and a Yamaha PA that I use the mixer from to patch into my computer. I use Sonyâs Acid Pro, Soundforge, and CD Architect for the recording and mastering, and I play on a black Ovation acoustic/electric.

I also make all of the CDâs, so if you notice a certain handmade quality to them, thatâs because Iâve put them all together myself, most likely at my computer desk or the kitchen table. My wife is responsible for the Greasehead album art, and has had a spectacular run of snapping awesome pictures that I've used on all of the records and t-shirts. I use Adobe Photoshop for any additional rendering, and print both the sleeves and discs on an Epson photo printer.

So thatâs the story of Greasehead. Itâs never been my intention to make money from it, I just wanted it to be known, so I was finally motivated to join the Colorado Music Association, get a UPC, sell the record on CD Baby, etc. I hope that if you get it, you listen to it, love it, tell your friends, etc. Feel free to let me know what you think, and thanks for checking out Greasehead!

Cheers,
Christian.
