The first two tracks show Scottâs Indiana roots. Tom-Petty-styled rocker, âJackâs Defeat Creek,â and slide-guitar romp, âGnawbone,â are both inspired by towns of the same names in southern Indiana. Additional highlights include âMake Her Love Me,â a funky, Junior Kimbrough-inspired groove, âStain Lifter,â a heavy-hitting song of contrition with a touch of Lanois-style production, and âAmen Corner,â a meditation on dying made heart-breaking by Jolie Hollandâs devilish fiddle and the angelic backing vocals of Holland, Samantha Parton, and Jan Bell.
