THIS IS THE STUFF EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS:
Jeffrey Othello is an internationally know Author, Songwriter and Musician.
He's been professional songwriter since 1990, and was the founder and leader of the all-Black rock bands âThe Wantedâ and âOthelloâs Revengeâ. In 1991 he performed on both the Lollapalooza and Gathering of the Tribes festival tours, as well as being featured in a MTV 30-minute News Special entitled âRacism: Points of Viewâ, which ran from 1991-1992. He toured and traveled nationally and internationally throughout the 1990s, and in 2002, was nominated for a JPF Songwriter Award. Also in 2002, he signed a licensing deal with producers Bunim-Murray, to provide music for MTV shows like THE REAL WORLD and ROAD RULES. Recently, he was featured in a 2003 exhibit at the National Broadcast Museum, chronicling his work on MTV and his views on racism in the music industry.
In 2004 he wrote the book "The Soul of Rock âN Roll: A History of African Americans in Rock Music, which has been called one of the most entertaining and culturally important books of its kind. It follows the careers of top African American recording artists in the rock music genre from 1950 to present and examines how African Americans created Rock âN Roll and set the sound, style and performance standards for the last 50-years of popular music. From Chuck Berry and Tina Turner to Rick James and Janet Jackson, this book exemplifies over 60 different artists and celebrates the powerful influence of African Americans on modern music and culture.
NOW... HERE'S WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW:
The Very Best of J. OTHELLO II is a collection of music spanning the first 10-years of a very successful songwriting career. These songs represent the evolution of Jeffrey Othello's powerful writing style. The early Metal comes from the deepest part of his then young and angry mind, and evolves over a 10-year period through relationships, college and theological seminary and into the brilliant heavy soundscapes and overtures that lead to the ultra heavy style represented in The Very Best of J. OTHELLO(I).
Technically, this cd probably should have come out first, but what the hell!
THE VERY BEST OF J. OTHELLO (2000 - Present)
THE VERY BEST OF J. OTHELLO II (1990 - 2000)
