Imagine a mystical radio station that broadcasts from the subconscious. Fleeting visions. Fragments of thought. Displaced melodies rise and fall, clinging to strands of memory. Composer Joe Frawley is proud to announce the release of Wilhelminaâs Dream : Electronic & Acoustic Works, five haunting sound collages framed by delicate instrumental compositions.
Joe Frawley's sound collage works are intended to blur the boundary between music and sound art. Using found sounds, field recordings, recontextualized speech, and samples from classical music (e.g., Ravel's Introduction and Allegro, and Peter Warlock's The Curlew) the composer has created accessible sound compositions bearing a hypnotic dreamlike quality. Musical episodes merge with bells, birds, wind, and other ambient sounds as ghostly voices rise, fade, and recur according to their own dream logic. Wilhelminaâs Dream : Electronic & Acoustic Works combines these experimental electronic pieces with instrumental compositions to create a luminous atlas of interior landscapes. A sound world by turns lulling, enchanting, eerie, and melcancholy; where ultimately beauty reigns supreme, and even despair wears a halo of radiance.

Joe Frawley is a Connecticut composer and visual artist, born July 4, 1971. His musical experience is an eclectic patchwork of pop radio, neighborhood piano lessons, garage rock bands, state university curriculum, broad improvisations in empty churches, public library listening rooms, and out-of-print composition treatises. He believes that one man's earnest pursuit of intelligent art may offer an antidote to the ravages of a disposable culture.
