Karen Lanier has spent the last 30+ years crafting songs that speak to the soul of those who listen with their hearts. Having played various coffeehouses, quaint bars and eateries near her hometown in Alabama and points south; the requests for a CD has finally been answered.
Karenâs songs have been compared to that of Tracy Chapman, Shawn Colvin and Bonnie Raitt. Yet, as she prefers to say: âI donât sound like them, we have similar stylesâ. Karenâs musical influences include Heart, Melanie, The Carpenters to the Old Standards of the 40âs. âItâs all goodâ. Having received her first guitar as a child, her instrument of choice these days is her Martin D12-20. 'I can't imagine playing or writing with anything else'.
As an artist Karen doesnât believe that explaining the meaning to her songs should be an issue. âMusic creates a unique image in the hearts and minds of each individual person. Sometimes Iâll mp3 a song and send it to my friends via email and ask them what image it brings to them. Boy, thatâs always an interesting exchange! Ha! Let my music talk to you.
