Details:
Doc Allen and the Heartstrings have done it again producing their third album and fourth project. They began recording âChristmas Morningâ in February 2006 and finished mixing and mastering in August. This is another neoclassical instrumental album of piano, violin(s), cello, woodwinds and percussion.
Production, recording, arranging, and mixing were meticulously executed by Jacob Lawson, the master. All recording took place at Little Big Sound studio in Bellevue, TN, in February and March of 2006 excepting violin and bass recordings which were done in New York at Jacobâs studio in June and July. Jacob on violin, Sam Levine on woodwinds, Gary Tussing on cello, Kenny Malone on percussion, and Newton Allen on piano have produced some fabulous music. Special thanks are heaped upon Jacob Lawson who is the producer of not only this album but also of our last album, "Hope". Jacob's ideas are integral to the musical magic presented here. Tommy Dorsey of Masterfonics did a wonderful job mastering this project.
The Christmas songs and carols recorded on this album are classics. We have put our instrumental stamp on them. Christmas Morning is the only original piece on this project. It evokes starting over and second chances for all of us.
Christmas is such a hopeful and fun time of year. To hold in balance the celebration of our saviorâs birth while enjoying family, friends, and a small dose of commercialism is difficult. Hopefully, this album will help you and me find that balance and enjoy the season with less fuss and remember what is really important. Unfortunately, âBusy-nessâ may be the opiate of modern man and woman. Spending quiet moments of reflection at Christmas and other times is the natural but hard-to-make-room-for remedy. I hope that this musical project is helpful.
Other CDâs by Newton Allen and âDoc Allen and the Heartstringsâ include âSunrise for Carolâ (1997), âYesterdayâs Dreamâ (2000), and âHopeâ (2003). More information is available at their website, www.opusmusic.com. Their music is also available at Tower.com, itunes.com, and CDbaby.com. Their group has played instrumental music at receptions, parties, weddings, anniversaries, and other events since 1997.
