Details:
Spoonchatter began in 2000 when Dustin and Jason both attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Although Dustin and Jason went to high school together and played with one another on occasion, it wasn't until college that they began writing and recording what would become the first batch of Spoonchatter songs. The two of them found the missing ingredient when Jen joined the group. Her saxophone and the style she played with added an acoustic and improvisational feel to each song.

The trio recorded two albums; the debut album being recorded on a 4-track analog recorder and done completely "in house", and Homespun, which was still recorded and produced by the band, but with state of the art equipment. In November 2004, Adam, who was a friend of the band, filled in for Jen on saxophone at a campus show. He quickly fit inot the band's chemistry and also happened to play the crucial instrument Spoonchatter had been missing: the bass. The four have been playing and writing music together ever since.

Spoonchatter's sound has evolved from a piano and drum duo to the full-on acoustic jazz/pop group they are today. Their recordings display their inspired songwriting ability and their great musicianship. Their songs cover the musical spectrum, ranging from piano ballads to fist-pumping rock and everything between. Their live shows are full of energy and their sets are never the same from show to show. Q94's Jim Price says "Spoonchatter's live shows are upbeat...and they play with infectious enthusiasm." Playing everything from originals to popular cover songs (with their unique twist, of course), Spoonchatter is one of the most talented and entertaining live bands in western Pennsylvania.

ABOUT HOMESPUN:

Spoonchatter's second album shows how far the band's sound and songwriting progressed in a few years. With recordings full of lush orchestrations and harmonies, Homespun pushed the band to a whole new level. Many tracks from this album have been featured on radio stations all over Pennsylvania. "Piano and saxophone overtones gently drive freewheeling and catchy melodies with varying rhythms, jazz-informed interludes and dynamic twists and turns reminiscent of peak Billy Joel, Elton John or Ben Folds Five...a fresh-sounding mixture of pop, rock and jazz flavors that makes for a bright, fun listen." says Q94's Jim Price. This recording truly captures the unique sound on which Spoonchatter prides themselves.
