Description:

(ID 851929)
TRANSPORT is a guitar driven rock band that delivers a fresh and surprising collision of riffs, melody and lyrical twists in the tradition of the great 3 pieces of history, from the Jimi Hendrix Experience to Primus; from Nirvana to Muse.

6 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Instrumental Rock, ROCK: Modern Rock

Details:
The band formed in 2002 starting as a rock/funk improvisation project. Their sound gradually settled and their initial tunes were pieced together from sections of long jams they had recorded. Later, songs would be written following a more conventional process. In 2003 the band won the National Campus Bands Competition, joining the ranks of past winners such as Jebediah, Eskimo Joe and George.

The competition helped them finance their debut independent CD "Safe No Rebounds" in 2004, a six track oddity featuring songs ranging from power pop to klesmer and metal. The single from the E.P. received rotation on Triple J and airplay on numerous smaller radio stations around the country.

Transport's latest release is self-titled 5 track E.P. distributed through Australia's largest independent label, Shock records.

"â¦distinguished not only by this unique stylistic cross-pollination but also by the group's awesome musicianship." - Rave Magazine (March 2005)

A wide range of seemingly contradictory influences is evident from listening to the 2005 release. The first track "Sunday Driver" is a study of alienation that captures the spirit of The Police's amphetamine-reggae, and pollinates it with joyous melodic pop and great slabs of Sabbathesque power chords. "Soda Pop", the 2nd single, thumbs its nose at the Britneys of this world in a rock/funk celebration of groove that's as punchy as it is infectious, managing to cram a small novel's worth of Cole Porter-like lyrics into its meagre 2 minutes 55 seconds.
Other tracks on the EP range from the darkly comic metal meets hip-hop epic of "Digital Glitch" to the weaving melodic lines of the introspective "Butterflies".

"â¦best known for their animated and tight live sets." - Time Off (March 2005)

Following in the tradition of many great Australian rock bands, Transport have a formidable live presence. 2005 sees Transport touring heavily as well as continuing to build what has become an impressive live following locally.

An unlikely blend of personalities colours the band's genre-bending sound. Transport has a split personality who suffers from mood swings, a peace loving follower of meditation and a measured and objective ice man.

Transport is: Keir Nuttall (vocals/guitar), Scott Saunders (bass/backups) and Steve Pope (drums).
