Details:
The "Fathers of Texas" was many years in the making. Written by singer/songwriter/historian K.R. Wood, this epic of history tells the story of the Texas Revolution in song and narration.

Inspired by the dramatic history of Texas and her struggle for independence from Mexico, the presentation begins with the early days of settlement and âThe Lone Star Dream" of Moses Austin. His son, Stephen F. Austin, later fulfilled this dream. The story continues with the Texas Declaration of Independence and the various battles and ends with the capture of Santa Anna at San Jacinto.

Vivid images of the fight to free Texas from Mexico's rule, prompt audiences to ponder the plight of the Alamo in its early beginning. K.R. performs as though he had first-hand knowledge of the harrowing fight for Texas' independence. The lonesome guitar solos and the western twang of the songs place each listener right along with old Ben Milam.

K.R. is an artist that teaches Texas history through song and narration. In this "Fathers of Texas" program, Mr. Wood along with many well-known Texas recording artists, sings songs and tells stories that depict the State of Texas in its early years. The program is well suited for history buffs of all ages and is especially applicable for 4th and 7th grade students studying Texas History.

This musical narrative has gained interest from educators as a new and exciting teaching tool, using lyrics that stimulate visual images and vocals that inspire sing-a-long participation. "Fathers of Texas" is not only entertaining, but also educational.

Whether you are a Texas history buff, an educator, or just someone that likes great music, you will enjoy âFathers of Texas.â
