Details:
Krou (rhymes with blue), originally from Montreal, is a composer, producer and DJ residing in Brooklyn. This self-titled debut release is a collection of works written upon first moving to New York from Los Angeles in the summer of 2000.

Produced with minimal gear and retaining a lo-fi approach, the tracks on this album play melodic themes against dark ambient textures, gathering to a place where melancholy meets science-fiction. Inspiration sources include Ennio Morricone, John Barry, Charles Aznavour, DJ Shadow, Kruder Dorfmeister, Goldfrapp, Massive Attack, Air, Amon Tobin and Portishead.

One of Krou's side projects includes the duo Commuter, a tech-house collaboration with Brooklyn producer Vasili Gavre, and Eyewash, a bi-weekly audio-visual performance event in NYC for which he is a resident DJ. He has also written music for two short films, including "Eden" by Robin Antiga and "The Interview" by Scott Province, and presently writing the score for the film "George" by Christopher Karallis.

New albums by Krou and Commuter are scheduled for release later this year.

UK's Computer Music Magazine just reviewed the song "Pink and Gold" in the October 2005 issue:

"This is the weirdest but also, in our opinion, best track we've featured from the Listening Lounge. Krou specialises in abstract electronica with a heavy surreal twist, and this piece would sit perfectly in a David Lynch movie. If you appreciate unnatural soundscapes then be sure to have a listen - it sounds truly exceptional. Things come in and out of focus and momentarily have you think you know what's going on, only to then disappear off into the mist again. At the end, when the drugs wear off, things become a bit more recognisable and you can almost make out a tune, albeit a bit of a blurry one. Go check this one out!"
