Details:
Kate Weekes grew up in Eastern Ontario, where at 13 she made her musical debut playing in a Beatles cover band. By the time she was19, her summers of busking, hitching and canoeing had inspired her first self-penned tune âLand Shaping the Peopleâ and a move to the Yukon Territories, where she has been living for the past three years.
Kate is now a prolific songwriter, featured on the âMega B.Y.T.E 2â C.D. and at the C.D. release concert at the Yukon Arts Centre in Whitehorse. She won a spot at the 2005 Frostbite Festival, has played the Ottawa Folk Festival and the main stage at Blue Skies Music Festival. Kate returned to the Yukon Arts Centre this winter as a featured performer at the 2006 Frostbite Music Festival.
Kate has just released a 5 song EP, âLand Shaping The Peopleâ with Juno Award winning producer Bob Hamilton at the helm. Critical acclaim, national airplay and the upcoming festival season finds Kate preparing to hit the stage with new songs and a promising future.
