Kate is a singer/songwriter originally from Baltimore. Originally a classical flute player and self-professed band nerd, she began to direct her musical energies to singing and the guitar upon her arrival at Davidson College in 2001. For the last 5 years she's been writing and honing her original songs in addition to performing in local orchestras and chamber music ensembles.
Named readers' pick for Charlotte's Best Local Female Vocalist in 2006, Kate writes and sings music from the heart. Her inspiration comes from her own experience and that of others around her.
Kate's love of folk music and flute playing were happily combined during a three month stint in Ireland, where she took up traditional Irish flute playing. In December 2005, Kate performed in New England and Davidson with the Celtic band The Beggar Boys. Her first record, Right Now, features 10 original songs and will be independently released in September 2006.
