We got bored one day and there appeared before us a vision of... kanìget. Indian bassist & rock goddess Surekha "Rex" Zwenaju and long time guitar guru Harry Martin ("Dirty Harry") first met when Surekha auditioned for a classic rock cover band Harry had formed. It was rock 'n roll, and rhythm n' blues at first sight. Surekha and Harry rapidly discovered that their tastes for sex, doritos & rock n' roll, dry english humour and impish mayhem meshed on a level unsurpassed. When Harry's cover band closed out in January 2005, Harry and Surekha embarked on a new journey to indulge in their flare for the cute and the dramatic. Their dark vision of music and their sarcastic wit and humour have combined to form the heavy head banging, foot stomping, yet fun and hips rolling, mosh that is the foundation of kanìget.
Paul McEwan, born in the medieval town of Coventry, England, where he played in both punk and heavy metal bands completed his search of the world for a home. After living in England, Sweden, Germany, Australia and Korea he settled in Hollywood. In July of 2005, it had to be fate......
Paul auditioned and became the third member of Kaniget. While Harry & Rex have aquired tastes for dry English humor, Paul was born into it. Paul's accomplished skill as a drummer and his personality have made a perfect match with Kaniget.
In August 2005 Kaniget added guitarist Bernadette De Joya. Bernadette, born in Austin, TX, grew up in Los Angeles exposed to the arts and music scene. Her influences have been Hendrix, My Bloodly Valentine, Joy Division and Ride. After a stint as a traveling musician and playing with other bands Bernadette has found a home with Kaniget.
Paul and Bernadette are both a welcome addition to Kaniget!
