Details:
Kadie O and the Light came from the coffeehouses & cafes in Los Angeles. The band is simply put together with dynamite musicians. Kadie O plays guitar, sings and writes most of the songs in their performances & on the cd. Vance Gloster plays guitar, the melodic sounds of the piano and also writes for the group. David Abercrombie plays the killer bass reps on the fretless base. DJ Lee provides the harmony and back-up vocals.
The band played, in their early days, in many Metropolitan Community Churches. Kadie O and the Light have songs with messages of hope and contentment to the emotions of the heart.
There is a lot of drama that could be told about this band but Iâm going to spare youâ¦.
Just know itâs about the musicâ¦.itâs gooooooodâ¦the messages are empowering; the music is excellent and captivating.
My favorite track is "What Can I Do For You." I wrote this in a time off my life that my son, Jamie, was deeply involved in drugs. I wanted to help him so very much, however I did not know what else I could do for him. This song is very haunting especially now because Jamie left this world in April 2004. This track really showcases the talents of David Abercrombie on a wonderful bass solo and the piano magic of Vance Gloster...KDO is full of emotion as she asks her son "What can I do for you that I haven't done before...." The track ends with a haunting chord that pronounces the heartache and the loss of this beautiful spirit.

Red October Review "Codi" at www.StoneWallSociety.com
"Shepherd" just won Song of the year in a genre also at Stone Wall Society.

This group was originally introduced to me as Acoustic Souls, as you may well know them. If not, you should make it a point to become familiar with their excellent music. Beautiful vocals, lyrics which touch & inspire, and fantastic accompaniment make "Red October" a musical treat. Kadie O & Vance Gloster have outdone themselves with this work. Self described as Coffee House Gospel; "Red October" well surpassed my expectations. A lover of all music, I was - and am - very impressed with the new direction these artists have taken.Strength is a strong part of the wonder of this music. That strength & the messages delivered in "Red October" are universal. I have played the CD for a few non-Christian friends & it was very well received. The message is not preached - nor pounded - but shared. In that, its strengths are increased. My favorite is "Shepherd." It's very catchy & reminiscent of my days as a child in Bible School. Vocals are delivered beautifully, the lyrics are strong, musical accompaniment is excellent.

The imagery evoked would touch most people and makes "Shepherd" cling like a warm blanket on a cold winter day.The most amazing thing - for me - is that fact that this is a ministry-related CD. I have other music, which is religious in nature, so the theme is not unknown to me. However, this CD is more personal - more adaptable - than most music released in the 'gospel' genre. By that, I mean it's more universal and accessible to various audiences. Those who dismiss religious music would be making a grave mistake by counting "Red October" in that group. The songs, especially "Shepherd," are geared toward the glbt community, but at the same time not restrictive in that vein either. I highly recommend adding this to your library. It's a musical must... and good food for the soul..
