kate Shortt is a cellist and singer/songwriter who has been writing since around 1974 (8 years of age!) This album is a culmination of some of her work which ranges from 1992 up until 2006. The tracks are arranged for varying instruments and are more indie than mainstream, (though one or two tracks may fit the description of mainstream). The songs are mainly true stories...(one or two are conceptual)

Kate trained at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in cello and second study singing, during which time she developed new ideas for songwriting.

She has performed her own show 'shortt and sweett' singing her material from 1990 onwards, throughout london fringe venues and varying festivals including Edinburgh and Brighton.
