IN PROMO COMMERCIALS FOR HURRICANE KATRINA TELETHON


Cleveland, OH---"Heal Me" by Kelly Chapman, was chosen by Black Entertainment Television (BET) as the debut song in its promotional commercials for the telethon to aid Hurricane Katrina victims. The telethon will take place on BET Friday, September 9, 2005 at 6 p.m. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross.

"Heal Me' sends a powerful message. We were looking for a song that best represented the feelings of the people devastated by the hurricane. We chose it as the first song in a series of public service announcements that will run all week promoting the telethon," said Kelli Richardson Lawson, BET's Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications.

"I knew when God gave me the lyrics to the song that it was not just for me, but for others who needed healing. I had no idea the magnitude of people who would truly be 'wounded' and 'weary' with 'weak minds' and 'tired bodies,'" said Chapman who is honored that her song was chosen.

Kelly Chapman, Contemporary Christian Music artist, received notification that "Heal Me" is a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) (www.songwritingcompetition.com/pvwelcome.htm). The song, a contemporary adaptation from the Psalms, was written by Chapman and Ryan Lott, an artist/musician in the Blue Renaissance Creative Group.

Chapman, a Cleveland Heights, OH resident, has been singing since high school. Her voice has garnered national and international recognition from the late Robert Palmer in Switzerland to R&B performer Tony Terry in Washington DC. She is currently a featured artist and member of "Celebration of Praise with Ron Rosson" on the Christian Television Network.

Her 12-track CD "Real" was recently released and tells the story of her life - a life of abusive relationships, sexual sins, drug and alcohol use and redemption. "Heal Me," is a cry for restoration and wholeness. A corresponding music video was released worldwide on December 18, 2004.

With over 11,000 entries from more than 70 countries, songwriting for this year's competition proved to be at an extremely high level. "Heal Me" was one of eleven (11) chosen in the Gospel/Christian category. Judges are industry executives and recording artists including Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Macy Gray, Tara Griggs-Magee (Sony Records), Peter Furler (The Newsboys) and others.

"I entered the contest shortly after participating in the Gospel Music Association's songwriting competition. When Heal Me was selected as a 2004 Semi-Finalist, I knew we had something special. With so many people in pain and depression, and witnessing the devastation happening around the world, we need God to heal our land. This song is simple but reaches people's souls," said Kelly.

The ISC is an annual songwriting contest whose mission is to provide the opportunity for both aspiring and established songwriters to have their songs heard in a professional, international arena. Amateur and professional songwriters and musicians are invited to participate. It has the most prestigious panel of judges of all the songwriting contests in the world, offering exposure and the opportunity to have a writer's songs heard by the most influential decision-makers in the music industry.
