ROCK: Americana, ROCK: Modern Rock
Details:
When the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, Craig Schumacher (owner of Wavelab Studio in Tucson, AZ) was deeply affected and wanted to help. He had deep ties to the area, built over many years and many visits to its music community, including hosting the annual Tape Op Conference in New Orleans.
Nick Luca, a musician/producer, who has frequently worked with Craig, had been bouncing around an idea for a Christmas compilation album with the head of his record label (Funzalo), Mike Lembo. It struck all involved that a Wavelab/Funzalo compilation CD would be a great way to raise funds for the victims of Katrina.
So Wavelab/Funzalo have compiled Graciously, A Gulf Relief Compilation. This CDâs goal is to raise awareness of the studio and its remarkable community of artists while giving 1/3 of the net proceeds to New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity Musicianâs Village project to aid in their work in the Gulf Coast area. The songs on Graciously represent a collection of artists that have an affiliation with Wavelab Studio. The CD will contain new and previously unreleased songs from these artists.
Funzalo will manufacture, market and promote the album. ADA will be distributing it throughout the United States.
Artists on Graciously include: John Doe, Robyn Hitchcock, Howe Gelb with Scout Niblett, Calexico, Steve Wynn, Amelia White, Richmond Fontaine, Nik Freitas, Devotchka, Tony Furtado, Luca, and Friends of Dean Martinez.
