Description:
Folk-rock-pop with a country tinge.
11 MP3 Songs
COUNTRY: Country Folk, FOLK: Modern Folk
Details:
Greg Hobbs is a Toronto singer-songwriter whose carefully-crafted lyrics and reflexive music bring a fresh perspective to the folk-rock-pop genre.
In April of '94, Hobbs recorded his debut solo CD, Under Your Feet. This self-produced project showcased Hobbs' intricate acoustic guitar work and poetic sensibility.
In the summer of '96, Hobbs wrote and performed music for the run of Anarchy and the Dalmatian, a play by Ottawa playwright Alan Neal. He then played with acclaimed Ottawa band Hennessey until moving to Toronto in the Spring of '97.
In 1999, Hobbs released Confused and Bleeding. Produced by John Switzer (Jane Siberry, The Waltons), the disc is a combination of wistful ballads and rollicking 70s style folk-rock.
For the past two years Hobbs has been playing around Toronto, where he was named one of the "local must sees" by the Toronto Star.
His latest release is called Drake Motel. It's a country-tinged folk-rock-pop album of bar room philosophy.
