Details:
Experiencing Scott Poole's poems is like visiting inside the human brain. His words pulse with electric life, and carry the reader on a torrent of wonderful energy to encounter marvel after marvel. A narrator grows corn inside his garage, another person bounces basketballs off a Rodin sculpture, a man sticks his foot into a coal mine on a Spring day permitting hundreds of tiny miners to escape. A sensitivity quivering with the terror and joy of existence inhabits this poetry. A man temporarily abandons replacing a broken automobile starter to savor the perfection of babies. Another realizes that living beings posses a power such that death / can't completely inhabit the body.
Poole's words would convince anyone that our species will endure and triumph.
Humorous, thoughtful, and vibrating with magic, his poems are simultaneously vehicle, idea, organic compound and music. The future of poetry---hey, the future of humanity---is in good hands if it's in Scott Poole's hands. --Tom Wayman, Canadian poet and academic

After tenure as an associate director of Eastern Washington University Press and coordinator of the Spokane's Literary Festival, Get Lit!. Poole moved to Portland Oregon to serve as the original director of Portland's Annual Festival of the Book, Wordstock.
He now lives in the town he grew up in, Vancouver, Washington with his wife and two children.
My Suggestion - 33 Poems by Scott Poole is a studio recording from acclaimed Poet Scott Poole, combining readings of 33 choice selections from his first two books on Lost Horse press with instrumental interludes created by The Emily Dickinsons, a fine ensemble arranged and conducted by noted composer, James Huie.
Poole describes his writing process as follows:
Well, first I drop into a cold sweat. Then I lie on the floor and wonder if I m dying. Then I see if there is anything on television that I can steal. Of course, there never is. Then I sharpen a #2 Ticonderoga pencil and throw it into the swimming pool. After that I consider becoming a Barista or Phlebotomist. Then I panic again. Then I watch the movie Barfly, if I haven t done so in the last month. Then I drink a six pack of Fat Tire ale and fall asleep under the living room rug. When I wake up hung over I do seven hundred jumping jacks and then prepare a meal out of nothing but extra virgin olive oil, leeks, and the latest issue of Sports illustrated. Then I eat a box of cookies and read a few lines out of The Old Man and the Sea: I have seen lions on the beach... Then I burst into tears and roll down the stairs. At this point I m just about ready...
