Mississippi is quickly gaining respect in the world of indie rock. If you look towards Jackson, the state capital, you will discover Signalsâ¦, a band consisting of Knowlton Bourne, Martin Powell, Stephen Coker, and Mims Graeber.



Signals⦠truly formed in the summer of 2008. Their current lineup, however, took shape only very recently when former drummer and founding member, Davis Woodall, parted ways with the band.



While it is difficult to place Signals⦠under a main genre of music today, they tend to categorize their style as indie rock, with a subtle undercurrent of grunge, shoegaze, and British post-punk thrown in.



Signals⦠signed with Olympic Records, a burgeoning indie label run by producer/musician, Misha Hercules, in November of 2008. Their debut six song disc, 'Static EP', was released in March, 2009.



Throughout this recording, Bourneâs sensual voice and guitar work keep the songs flowing while Powell's guitar parts are sporadic enough to grab attention, and then follow through to deliver an irresistible excitement.



Woodall and Coker, on drums and bass, besides creating a solid rhythmic foundation, really show what theyâre made of on the songs' bridges and breakdowns - with electrifying improvisations that leave the listener wanting more.



No member of the group has yet graduated from high-school, but their youth is not holding them back. They have succeeded in finding a unique sound that has strongly resonated with their peers, but that has also garnered them fans more than twice their age.



Signals⦠have created a surprisingly mature first release - their initial public offering along their determined journey towards an extremely promising musical future.
