LYRICS LYRICS LYRICS LYRICS

1) EVEN WHEN

Even when I'm over worked
Even when I'm under paid
Even when I can't fall to sleep
and the clock on the wall just creeps
in slow motion.

Even when I'm the flavor of the month
Even when I've been rejected on all fronts
Even when I loose control
and decide it's just better to roll
with the punches.

I have life, I have feeling, I exist, I am breathing
I have time, I have strength, I have possibilities.

Even when I'm unemployed
Even when the world around me has been destroyed
Even when I'm out on a limb
and the chances of winning are slim
or next to nothing.

Even when I've been humbled by my loss
Even when I'm hammered up my own cross
Even when I'm out in the blue
sporting a new tattoo
that just says loser.

I have life, I have feeling, I exist, I am breathing
I have time, I have strength, I have opportunity.

When my hope no longer gives shelter to my pain
When all my good intentions leave me standing in the rain
once again,

I will remember, I will remember, I will remember

I have life, I have feeling, I exist, I am breathing
I have time, I have strength, I have possibility.

Truth is not a pearl dropped in the bottom of the sea
Truth is not a dream
Truth is not living in some book or new philosophy
Truth is dancing in simplicity
Inside of you, inside of me
Truth is not a dream. not a dream, not a dream.

2) LOVE IS NO STRANGER

Love is no stranger
When she comes knocking at your door.
She says, "Come on let me in I am the tempest
of all things you've placed your trust upon."

"And I pick you if you want me to
I'm yours For the receiving
I pick you, unravel me
on and on and on and on and on."

If she finds you worthy
Love annihilates your coarse.
Saying, "Come on take a chance on the path of the untamed
so I can help you know your name."

"I pick you if you want me to
I'm yours For the receiving
I pick you, unravel me
On and on and on and on and on.
Love will carry on and on and on.

Love is constantly waiting to respond
To the gentle pounding Of your heart resounding
She exists to play upon
The flute of your most intimate song.
Singing,

"I pick youâ¦

3) WHY

Why chase the advice of others when I've got the counsel of my heart?
Why favor statistics when I've got my own experience?
Why modify religion when there's ultimate faith in the self?
Why kill myself for success when breath is the source of my wealth?

Why look for proof when 'what is' already is?
Why wait for a miracle when the blessing is this existence?
Why believe in the unbelievable when reality is speaking sweet and clear?
Why exasperate the journey when truth sits still within a place of recognition?

Why define morality when simple honesty will do?
Why drum up illusion when life is the beauty we can see?
Why count on the future when all I can embrace is now?
Why cling to the past when the present is everything anyhow?

Why go all the way to India, when the quest starts within my heart?
Why make a concept out of enlightenment
When the sun is always shinning behind the clouds?

Thank you for reminding me of everything that's real.
Thank you for showing me a richness I feel.
Thank you for guiding me
Thank you for all I have learned
Thank you for speaking to me in the most practical terms

Thank you for encouraging me to stand my own ground
To trust in this life is the sweetest sound
I once was lost but now I have found
My way home.

4) BEFORE THERE WAS A NAME

Before there was a name
Stars bejeweled the sky
The moon taught her chariot to fly
Before there ever was a name
The grass still swelled with rain
wheat bowed down to the ground just the same
Before there was a name
The wind dueled with the trees
rivers gave themselves to the seas

Before there ever was a name
I could remember
To express myself out loud
But to navigate this tongue
From a cage of words Iâm bound
If I ever start believing all this name-calling is real
Remind me how to feel my way back home

Before there ever was a name
Fruit still ripened on the vine
Seasons spun a continuum of time
Before there was a name
The sun ran through the fields of gold

Before there ever was a name
I could remember
To express myself out loud
But to navigate this tongue
From a cage of words Iâm bound
If I ever start believing all this name-calling is real
Remind me how to feel my way back home.

5) SPEAK TO ME

Speak to me from the depth of your heart
Speak to me I'm longing to hear you
Speak to me from an unambitious place
Be direct with me
Speak from the depth of your heart.
from the depth of your heart.

Don't be scared,don't be shy
Don't hold back, just let it fly
Don't be guarded, speak to me
It's the authentic you I want to see.

Let's express how we feel, let's keep it real

Speak to me, from the depth of your heart
Speak to me, I'm longing to hear you
Speak to me, from an unambitious place
Be direct with me
Speak from the depth of your heart.
From the depth of your heart.

If you feel lost, just let it be
The river finds it's way eventually
You don't have to cover up anything for me
It's the authentic you I want to see.

Let's express how we feel, let's keep it real

PALABRAS QUE TRAEN TU CIELO
VIENEN DE TU BOCA HASTA MI PIEL
HABLAN DE SOL Y MIEL
CON BUENAS NUEVAS LLENAS DE RAZON
DICEN BIEN CLARO DE LO CIERTO QUE ES
DESDE EL FONDO DE TU CORAZON

Speak to me,from the depth of your heart
Speak to me,I'm longing to hear you
Speak to me from a simple place
Be direct with me
Speak from the depth of your heart.
From the depth of your heart
From the depth of my heart.

6) COURAGE TO CHANGE

Can we heal our anger with forgiveness?
Can we follow our nature without shame?
Can we speak from the heart directly?
Can we give ourselves as though we've got nothing to loose,
Can we choose...

The Courage To Change
The efforts never ever in vain
When you find the courage to change

Can we address the greatest good in each other?
Even when we're blinded by rage?
Can we lay down the shield of our defenses?
Can we trust ourselves enough to openly embrace,
stand and face

The Courage to Change?
The effort' s never ever in vain
When you find the courage to change.

Changing round the changeless
Changing round the changeless

Can we walk the road of transformation?
Shedding our conceptual skins?
Can we relax in the reality of what is?
Can we just let go as though we never had the reins
just growing pains...

Through The Change
the effort's never ever in vain
When you find the courage to change

Whole heartedness to change
Recognition to change
It takes a sense of freedom to change
Honesty to change
It takes openness to change
Flexibility to change
More than demographics to change
It takes a lot of understanding to change
It takes vital signs to change
Humility to Change

Changing round the changeless
Changing round the changeless

It takes whole-heartedness to change.

7) LESSONS OF LOVE

These little messengers of love
come in unsuspecting forms
they carry little mirrors
to share reflections of the now
they live within our house of time
like little notes received
to sound within our symphony of life
with hidden colors they paint themselves
upon the landscape of our hearts
These precious messengers who bring
the lessons of love
who bring the lessons of love.

8) FLOWERS

My body aches in these moments of solitude and yearning
you say the depth of what I feel is just my thirst burning

waiting for the desert rain
to quench my thirsty land
one drop of your love
And Iâm blooming like a flower in the sand
blooming like a flower in your hands.

Itâs quiet on the battle front the dragonâs finally sleeping
the heat, the flame, the scorching remarks are now so sweetly weeping

Waiting for the desert rain
to quench my thirsty land
one drop of your love
And Iâm blooming like a flower in the sand
blooming like a flower in your hands.

âTo the scent like bees consumed
by the flower of the heartâs perfumeâ

In the color of my room
I can breathe the hearts perfume
Dripping down in sheets of light
To kiss my fears and kiss my fright
Rising, falling with the waves
To satisfy this heart that craves
To drink the feeling solely in
To hear the silent sound begin

My body moves through these moments of solitude and yearning
you say the grace of what I feel is my gratitude returning

waiting for the desert rain
to quench my thirsty land
one drop of your love
And Iâm blooming like a flower in the sand
blooming like a flower in your hands.

âto the scent like bees consumed
by the flower of the heartâs perfume.â

9) APPALACHIAN WIND

Like the Appalachian wind
Blowing strong against my skin
Always present, but never kin
Wild Appalachian wind
I hear you calling
But I won't invite you in.

So you can stand outside my window
With your flowers and your wreaths
You can speak your lover's wisdom
But never will I believe
In the heart belonging tooâ¦

The Appalachian wind
Growing restless with my skin
Never will I win
The wild Appalachian wind
I hear you laughing
But I won't invite you in.

So you can dance outside my window
With your poetry and drum
You can chant your Celtic rhythms
But never will I come
To know the heart belonging too
The Appalachian wind.

Do we end before we begin?
To feel the strength of our skin
Wild Appalachian wind
I hear you pounding
But I won't invite you,
I won't let you in.

So you can sing outside my window
With your gypsy violin
You can play until the sunrise
But I still won't let you in
For I may never win
The heart belonging too
The Appalachian wind.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

I was at caraâs concert in germany - magical.
David ColemaN

My dear Cara,
I received your lovely music and have been enjoying it immensely!
i enjoy listening to your voice - strong and soft around the edges and quite soothing i might add.
My only complaint about your cd was song number 7 - Lessons of Love.
And what is my complaint? It was too short. i play it again and again and again and again and again, ok you get the picture. i love that melody. it is rich with feeling.
the humming and the singing and the piano - the melody reaches into me and one day while driving in my truck it got me. i started balling cause i was in that space in my heart where the world of feeling takes over and logic goes right out window.
You have just made it to the top two of my favorite musicians list!
The entire cd is incredible Cara!
I'll be happy to help out with the next one.

Lotsa love
Mike Donahoe

Dear Cara, my husband George passed away two days ago after a long battle with cancer. His funeral is this coming Monday, 15 June. I just wanted you to know that one of the songs that will be played during the ceremony will be your "Thank You" song. George was himself a musician, he played the guitar and bass guitar so the other music will be from the guitar greats. No classical music for us...

I feel by playing this song M's presence will be felt on this sad occasion. Thank you for "Thank You".
Warmly,
Yolande

"Cara, the lyrics in your song is very reflective of my life finding only freedom in M. Thanks for sharing this very enjoyable whimsical meaningful song :)
Wyld Blizz
Hi Cara,

My chiropractor here in Ventura, Todd Binkley, played a CD that had your song, As We Are, on it during my treatment today. I asked him what the song was and the artistâs name.
In my google to find out where I could get your CD, I find that you are in the same city. Which brings me to my questionâ¦do you ever have any places here in Ventura where you appear?
As We Are has some of the most beautiful lyrics I have ever heard.
Thank you!
A new fan,
Emily

Hi Cara,
I am Jims wife. He played me the CD too (of course we were actually sitting side by side....it is very beautiful. Another CD to listen to when I'm painting. Thank you.

Hi Cara,
I completely forgot to tell you that I received "Beyond Baroque" quite
a few days back and it is beautiful.
You ARE clever and talented and "connected".
"Love Is Longing" is a gorgeous track to end a CD. Reminds me (a Little) of Laurie Anderson but it's YOU, of course.
Regards,
Jim Robson.
