Christy Hays began writing songs at the age of fourteen when her father let her borrow his 1962 Gibson B-25. She fell in love with that guitar and it became a vehicle for expressing her observations of humanity. Brought up in a musical house hold, she was deeply affected by blues, Texas singer songwriters and old country. Old Time and bluegrass music are also a big part of the collective shaping of her unique sound.

Around the age of 23, Christy left rural Illinois and headed north to Alaska where she would spend the better part of her 20's. With a home base in the far north, she traveled all over North America and to other corners of the world, which have shaped her unique sound.

Realizing that music was a constant truth in her life, Christy left Alaska in 2007 to fully pursue her passion. After a brief stint in Memphis, she settled in Nashville for the last year and a half where she formed a band and made a record. In the summer of 2009, Christy will be touring as an acoustic duo all over the U.S. to promote her self titled debut. She plans to relocated to Austin in the fall.

This is truly a unique voice. Accessible and soulful, filled with depth and texture. Christy's writing is a life lived and observed on the fringes of the day. She has something to say ,and says it in a way you can't help but identify with it. The lack of pretense is refreshing. This is real music that will find a place in your heart or at least get stuck in your head.
