Christine Young is an American living in the Netherlands with her husband David, who is working for NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). This song was written by Debbie Bennett, the wife of a United States Army Chaplain and Christine felt compelled to record it and carry the core message behind it, which is to pray for our American troops on the frontlines and for their families that are left behind.

As the war in Iraq and Afghanistan continues and as families are separated for long periods of time (often for more than one deployment), it becomes increasingly more essential to strengthen and encourage soldiers and their family members to remain steady and count on God to carry them through this separation.

Debbie asks the question in her song, âCan you pray for those who give their lives so our nation can be free?â You too can join us in prayer and claim the scripture âThe prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective,â James 5:16. Your prayer is powerful and effective. Donald Whitney shares in his book Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life, âOften we do not pray because we doubt that anything will actually happen if we pray. Of course, we donât actually admit this publicly. But if we actually felt certain of visible results within sixty seconds of every prayer, there would be holes in the knees of every pair of Christian-owned pants in the world!â Your prayer changes things and our troops and families need it.
