Gabrielle Angelique was born in Bird Island, Minnesota. When she was young her family moved to the Twin Cities metro area, where she began taking harp lessons at age 6. By the age of 8 she began taking piano lessons and writing her own songs. Gabrielle use to get into trouble with her mother, who is also a harpist, because she preferred practicing her own songs rather than the sheet music from her lessons.
When she was 14 she helped make jewelry part time for her family owned company âHarp Stoneâ which stands for harp music and stone jewelry. She had the opportunity to travel the country part time with her parents and attend arts and crafts shows selling her mothers harp music and their jewelry. At the age of 15 she broke away from her shyness and began performing at weddings, coffeehouses, art exhibitions, and churches.
Her passion for music convinced her parents to enroll her into the Rudy & Lola Perpeich Center for Arts Education (MCAE). By the end of 2001, Gabrielle created a solo harp album called 'Light' which mainly features original songs written by the artist and was intended for relaxation purposes. After the albums release Gabrielle donated time at United Children's Hospital of St.Paul playing songs from 'Light' creating a calm, soothing environment for her young audience. It was while doing this service Gabrielle began to realize the true healing properties of harp.
Shortly after college Gabrielle fell in love with her husband Dustin. He offered to develop a free website for her since he was a web designer at the time and shortly after they were delightfully married. She taught him jewelry designs and they began doing arts and craft shows together where she performed and sold her harp CDâs while he sold their jewelry.
Her follow-up album 'Celtic Twilight' was created after requests from customers at the shows asking for a Celtic CD so she created an album blend of ancient Scottish/Irish songs in which Gabrielle intermixed four of her own songs, 'Celtic Twilight', 'Dance with the Stars', 'Moon Dolphins', and 'Truly'. The album debuted in mid 2003.
Gabrielle currently resides in Bird Island, MN and travels the United States with her husband selling her CD's and jewelry at over 35 arts and craft shows each year. She will be entering the studio once again to record her next album which should be ready for release by July 2007.
