A bit dark, a bit adventurous, an altogether joyful noise. Not totally dissimilar to Crimson's Red lp, but played by musicians on parade.

Production Notes
This ep is comprised mostly of material that wouldnât, couldnât and otherwise didnât fit onto the previous Knitting By Twilight album, âAn Evening Out of Townâ for mostly thematic considerations. Theyâre presented here in all their guitar driven and metals clanging glory. And these would be Shiver, Mikâs Glacier and Twirling Guitars and Glad Tambourines. Theyâre accompanied by an alternate version of Blue Ink for Fountain Pens, which features the blue and brooding guitar of Mike Marando, and is altogether different from the more docile mix included on the debut Knitting By Twilight album of the same name. Also included here is a minimalist version of Sheâs Not Here Sheâs Far Ahead, from the Knitting By Twilight ep âSomeone to Break the Silence.â In the spirit of its reductionist treatment, itâs been titled Sheâs Here. â John Orsi, Spring 2009.
Out on the Road for âAn Evening Out of Townâ
â Not jazz, not pop yet superb with improvisatory embellishments and a secret sense of melodic wisdom befitting an astonishing catholicity of qualitative inspirations and influences.â
â Mitch Lemay, KFJC
âMost bands offer square peg into square hole genre comforts, but the out of time instrumentals KBT offers are like new attitudes all around.â
âJack Rabid, The Big Takeover
âAn Evening Out of Town is a mixture of different styles and genres, where youâre not sure where youâre headed, but youâre always pleased to reach each songâs destination. The core of Knitting By Twilight has always been multi-instrumentalist John Orsi, and he goes at it by creating mostly instrumental pieces that could be anything and everything from jazz to new age, light electronic music, folk, to sounds that show a possible classical influence.â âItâs simple in its complexity, and itâs complex in its simplicity.â
âJohn Book,thisisbooksmusic.com
âOn their latest effort, the band expound on their trademark, mesmerizing rhythms with curiously dark keyboard lines, jangling string passages and haunting sound bytes. Theyâve truly created an original entity thatâs both commercially viable and musically progressive.â
â Doug Sloan, Metronome
âSpaciously atmospheric, resonantly tonal, and sometimes jarringly percussive, this is the
type of impressionistic work that renews oneâs faith in musicians that take chances.â
â John Collinge, Progression
