How do you describe the music of four friends that love to create music together any better than just that? That is exactly what ACB is; four friends that long to create music that is inspiring and bigger than who they are as individuals or a band.
Anthony Celia released his first solo project, entitled Kyrie [EP], in the summer of 2008. After recording Kyrie with just himself and one other friend Anthony needed a band to recreate what had been created in the studio. Over the course of several months and countless times of leading worship at several churches and youth gatherings in Southern California, Anthony Celia Band was formed.
Anthony recalls, âACB never started out to become an official band.â Each late night practice for a worship service turned into songs, which turned into their first self- titled EP. After only a few weeks of writing the ACB EP was recorded in three days in Orange County, CA at the Racket Room (Ray LaMontagne, Switchfoot, David Ford, the list goes on). The sound that was produced amazed everyone, even the four friends.
Anthony recalls, âRyan wanted to go into the studio and lay down a few songs. To be honest, I really wasnât expecting much. I had a lot of stuff going on and was really busy, as we all were, but we carved out three days and pounded out these songs. During tracking I was really surprised by how fast the songs were coming together. We didnât have to change much in the studio from the original drafts of the songs we came up with in my churchâs youth room. After I heard the mixes I started to get really excited, and by the time the masters made it to my ears I was speechless. I am very proud of these songs we created. It felt very natural creating music with my closest friends. My prayer for these songs is that they connect with people in a very natural way. We wanted to create something we are proud of and believed in and that is all we could do. I think people will be able to hear that in these songs. We do not have an agenda. We are just four friends that enjoy music and our friendship.â
When asked to describe their sound Anthony comments, âI am sure there are tons of bands you can compare our sound to, and then compare that bandâs sound to somebody elseâs sound. We just write what we like. â He laughs, âWe hope other people like it too.â
