In addition to her successful career as one of Hollywoodâs most active voice-over artists, multi-talented kidsâ entertainer Debi Derryberry is passionate about writing and performing in front of live audiences. âNot a day goes by,â Debi says, âwhen I donât think about a new verse, or melody, or idea for a story that Iâd like to share.â Probably best known as âthe voice of Jimmy Neutron,â Debi is very excited about her latest creative endeavor: the delightful preschool childrenâs character, âBaby Banana.â

The inspiration for âBaby Bananaâ comes from a bedtime story Debiâs husband made up for their young son. The character first appeared in a calypso-themed song on her childrenâs CD, 2006âs award-winning âWhat A Way to Play,â that rose to number one on Sirius Radio.

Debi is touring extensively in 2009, entertaining kids and grown-ups with songs and stories about âBaby Banana,â his âDaddy Gorillaâ and âMomma Duck,â and their tropical fantasy world of natural wonders, exotic animal friends, and tantalizing tastes, sights and smells. Their adventures are also celebrated in a new CD which launched in May â09, âDebi Derryberryâs Baby Banana,â and a new book, âBaby Banana and the Licorice Tree,â which published in December â08.

âIâve loved telling stories and singing songs since I was a child,â says Debi, âand itâs a great joy for me to bring smiles to peopleâs faces, especially children! While âBaby Bananaâ is largely about fun, wonder and fantasy, it also has core themes that I believe are very important for kids to understand at an early age, including kindness, diversity, sharing, the meaning of family, and an appreciation for the natural world.
