Just one year after the release of the debut album, 35 Miles, Ellis Uniques is back with a brand new single, a whole new look and a banginâ new sound. The groupâs new single, Really Really, will set the stage for the new Cyber Sounds Mixtape. Really Really finds the band venturing into a more clubby Pop/International sound with a big catchy hook, to be followed by the more urban-influenced synth-jam, Play My Song.

The new sound is a reflection of where the artists who make up the collective known as Ellis Uniques are right now, and that seems to be a very good place, judging from the more melodic sound, perfectly suitable for pop and urban media outlets. And with the sonic difference, also comes the emergence of the new look. As the duo embraces a fresh start and a new perspective, gone are the long, colorful locs fans and supporters have come to recognize as a signature look for the band. Opting for a sleeker look, the band is poised for another round of successful musical endeavors with the release of new music.

âItâs definitely an exciting time for us,â producer and lyricist Richie Skye explained. âWeâve been through quite a bit over the past two years, and weâve learned so much more about the industry. At this point, itâs all about the singles, and maximizing the success and exposure of each single so that when the album finally does drop, people are familiar â theyâll know us, and theyâll have an expectation of what to expect: great music thatâs different and fun, but you can easily digest it.â

âAnd thatâs why weâre calling this whole project Cyber Sounds,â lead vocalist E. Maria continued. âThe music this time is different, with more synths, it's a lot more melodic, and driven by these electronic sounds and harmonic vocals. The fierce beats and instrumentation is still there, but on this album, youâre going to hear some vocal ear candy. Itâs going to taste good going down, so good that youâll just have to have more. And this time itâs really about the marketing and gaining fans one city; and one musical note at a time. Ellis Uniques is really just beginning: We donât die, we multiply!â

The musical collective formed in 2003, the combined genius of E. Maria and Richie Skye. Having collaborated with a plethora of musicians and background singers, the duo began work on their debut album in 2007. The album, 35 Miles, was released in January of 2008 (currently on CD Baby and iTunes), spawning instant classics like Fade Away and Monkey. Immediately after the release, the group embarked on a promotional tour trekking through the Eastern Atlantic region before venturing to the West Coast, and finishing in the summer of 2008. After a brief hiatus for the fall of 2008, the band refocused to set its sights on album #2, giving birth to a brand new start. Now with the release of Really Really, with a video to shortly follow, Ellis Uniques has raised the bar with a new objective: world domination. Will you be a part of the Unique Movement?
