Baghdad Blues
As the decade of the millennium draws to a close, Hope is the watchword of the future. The heartbreak of the 9/11 tragedy and the invasion of Iraq as an inappropriate response had bought worldwide anger and frustration; and a desperate sense of helplessness that one was powerless to steer the powers that be, towards the right direction in the quest for justice.
Baghdad Blues tells many stories, mostly related to the war in Iraq; but it also admonished those who violated human rights in the name of democracy. It celebrates the possible withdrawal from Iraq, but not forgetting the poor black father who lost his only son on the front line.
However unfinished business in the war zone in Afghanistan still lies ahead. There is a sense of superstition that the days of the architect of the 9/11 massacre are drawing to a close; and for those touched by the tragedy of 9/11, there is a willingness for the spirit of hope to comfort them.
Although not specifically mentioned, the message of comfort and hope is extended to all those who have suffered from terrorism anywhere in the world.
