Few musicians in the past few decades can lay claim to the caliber of credits held by singer-guitarist, Rick Vito. His stellar slide and lead guitar work has enriched the recordings and performances of such legendary Hall of Fame rock and blues artists as Bob Seger, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, John Mayallâs Bluesbreakers, Roy Orbison, and scores of others. To date he has appeared on over one hundred released recordings, and his haunting slide solo on Segerâs âLike A Rock,â has been heard by untold millions as the guitar voice on the Chevrolet truck TV commercial ads over the past decade!

Perhaps best known as a member of legendary supergroup Fleetwood Mac (1987-1991), Rickâs presence brought back a passionate bluesy quality to the bandâs music. His original songs and guitar/vocal performances are featured on their recordings, âBehind the Mask,â âThe Chain,â âGreatest Hits,â âThe Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac,â and the live concert DVD, âTango In The Nightâ.

Rickâs debut solo album, âKing Of Heartsâ released in 1992 on Atlantic Records, was praised in Guitar Player magazine as â...a dazzling collection of fiery, slide guitar-driven songs.â His voice and guitar were again captured at their finest in his second solo work, 1998âs âPink & Black,â this time settling into a more traditional blues-rock setting.

In 2000 Rick signed with the German based Hypertension Music label which released an incredible third solo CD, âLucky Devils.â He then took his band to tour Europe where he appeared on the now classic "Ohne Filter" TV show, which was recently released on DVD as âRick Vito Live In Concert.â

Rickâs next CD, âCrazy Cool,â was released in 2002 in Europe followed again by a sellout tour that also included rave performances at major Blues festivals there. A fifth CD, âBandbox Boogie,â followed in late 2003. More in the tradition of jump and swing blues, it includes many show-stopping favorites such as âBlues Town,â âLittle Sheba,â âWhere Did You go, Bettie Page,â and the blistering title track instrumental, a salute to Rickâs guitar idols of the swing era.

Rickâs 2006 CD, âRattlesnake Shake,â is a tour de force for all fans of slide guitar, blues, and rhythm-rock. ââTalk That Talk,â Rickâs follow-up 2007 CD continues in this same tradition and is available as an import from Hypertension Music. Rickâs âComplete Slide Guitarâ instructional DVD was also released by the Hal Leonard Corporation that same year. âLucky In Love: the Best of Rick Vito,â is scheduled for release in late 2008.

Rickâs many recent endeavors have included heralded world tours with blues and rock icons, Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, and John Fogerty. As producer, Rick also collaborated with ârockabilly filly,â Rosie Flores. This resulted with the release of âSpeed of Sound,â receiving uniformly incredible reviews. Rickâs guitar work also appears on recent releases by Delbert McClinton (the Grammy winning, âNothing Personalâ), Hank Williams Jr., and The Tractors.

Warner Brothers major movie release, âAngel Eyes,â starring Jennifer Lopez, featured Rickâs song, âItâs Two A.M.â, as performed by Alligator Recordâs superstar, Shemekia Copeland. This song also garnered Rick the prestigious W.C. Handy Award for âBlues Song of the Year.â

In the Dreamworks motion picture, âThe Castle,â starring Robert Redford, and James Gandolfini, Rick is featured in a rare cameo as a military police captain. His songs have also appeared on many TV shows including âWithout A Trace,â âThieves,â âFelicity,â âHBOâs Real Sex,â âNorthern Exposure,â âEverwood,â and others.

Recently Rick teamed up with former bandmate Mick Fleetwood to form two incredible Hawaii-based bands. The Island Rumours Band features many of Hawaiiâs most talented musicians and is a unique synthesis of Rickâs original tunes, Fleetwood Mac gems, and traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music. This amazing band creates a sensation wherever it plays! Rick also fronts the rockinâ four-piece Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, which currently performs in support of their brand new âlive and studioâ CD release, âBlue Again.â This incredible CD both revisits the original blues music of the early Fleetwood Mac, and also forges ahead with brand new Vito compositions. MFBB recently returned from a sellout European tour, headlining Norwayâs Nottoden Blues Festival and scoring legions of new fans everywhere.
