Homer Allen was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and presently resides in Dallas, Texas. Homer was born the oldest of 8 children. He began playing music at the age of 6 playing flute, xylophone and drums for his elementary school band. By the time he reached the sixth grade Homer had become an accomplish musician playing and reading music. As a graduation present from elementary school his fifth and sixth grade teachers purchased him a trumpet to further his musical talent in the junior and senior high school band. While in high school Homer began playing jazz, soul and R&B music with a band made up of other musicians in his high school band. At the age of sixteen his band was given the opportunity to perform as the opening act for the legendary duo known as âSam and Daveâ.

After High school Homer entered the U.S. Air force where he toured as a solo trumpeter with the Air force Entertainment Showcase known as âTops In Blueâ. During this time he traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, entertaining military troops and their families. After the military Homer played with numerous other jazz, soul, and R&B bands. This provided the opportunity for him to be on the same stage with such artists as Isaac Hayes, Maceo Parker, The Bar-kays, and other well known talents.

Even though music being his first love Homer attended college to obtain a degree in Business Management from Southern University, Shreveport and later a second degree in Sociology from Dallas Baptist University. However, he still continued to hold on to the one thing that brought him joy and pleasure, playing his trumpet when ever the opportunity presented itself. Today, Homer truly believes that God placed music in his life as a tool for him to give testimony of Godâs glory, mercy and grace.

It was not until May 2003 that the Lord touched and placed in Homerâs heart his plan for him to sing and play gospel music. Homer knew it was Godâs will for him to sing gospel music because he knew he could play the trumpet but had never considered himself a singer. Since May 2003 he has been performing gospel music in local churches, homeless shelters and other establishments in Dallas, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana.

Finally in January 2009 Homer recorded his first musical CD ever entitled âGospel Truthâ. The music in his CD is written in a smooth melodic jazz melody which many christian listeners find very serene, comforting and peaceful. While composing the songs in his CD Homer admits that his focus was not to provide the listener with groovy or funky beats to move their bodies, shout or even dance to. But to compose music that would place the listener in a serene and relaxing state of mind in order to better receive Godâs Truth. Furthermore, he considers his music to be raw in nature, not filled with an abundance of unnecessary special effects and sounds. Thereby, eliminating all distractions for the listener, to better hear and receive the gospel truth that is contained in the lyrics of each song.

Homer wants us all to know that throughout the many years he has performed and been associated with music. He never imagine that he would be singing gospel music. But we never know what Godâs plan and purpose is for us until he unfolds it. Please accept this CD and listen to it and accept the power of Godâs word.
